The Austin Peay football team put together their second shutout in a row on Saturday, beating Mississippi Valley State 41-0 in dominant fashion.

The Governors were scoring at will for the entire first half, with all 41 points scored before halftime and scoring on seven of their first eight drives total.

Quarterback Mike Dilileo has been a bright spot for Austin Peay in their first three games of the season, and that continued Saturday, as he completed 25 of 33 passes for 383 yards and five touchdowns on the night.

The Governors showed plenty of depth and balance in the game as well, as eight different receivers caught passes on the night. The Austin Peay offense also rushed for 176 yards for the game.

While the offense has been the flashy unit over the last two games for the Governors, as they have outscored Presbyterian and Mississippi Valley State by a combined score of 104-0, the defense has done nothing but completely shut down opponents.

Austin Peay held MVSU to only 121 yards of total offense, along with two interceptions forced by Kam Ruffin and Ethan Caselberry.

With the dominant performances in the last two weeks, and a very competitive loss against FBS opponent Western Kentucky, the Governors have started to gain some real traction towards entering the FCS Top 25, as they have received votes in the last two polls and are just outside of the rankings.

Austin Peay will travel to Huntsville, Alabama this Saturday to take on Alabama A&M in preparation for their ASUN debut on homecoming against Eastern Kentucky, who is currently ranked nineteenth in the FCS poll. Kickoff is set for 2 PM on Saturday against Alabama A&M and the game will be streamed on YouTube.
