The Lady Govs were in action facing conference opponent Eastern Kentucky Lady Colonels on Saturday, Feb. 23. The Lady Govs wanted to erase that devastating loss to Eastern Illinois on Monday by taking down the Lady Colonels.

In the beginning moments it did not look like the Lady Govs were going to put down EKU so easily. The Lady Colonels went up 7-0. The Lady Govs managed to cool down EKU, and they and the Lady Colonels began to trade baskets and the lead, as the lead changed a total 16 times in the first half.

The statistics in the first half were very identical except in second chance points, EKU got a big upper hand on the Lady Govs are second chance points and coupled with the miscues by the Lady Govs allowed the Lady Colonels to go into halftime with a slim lead 23-25.

The Lady Govs and EKU continued to joust for the lead in the second half. It was not until it got under the 10-minute mark that the Lady Colonels began to emerge and get separation from the Lady Govs getting the first two-possession lead since the beginning of the game.

Eastern Kentucky was getting hot from the field, shooting almost 50 percent compared to their 21 percent in the first half. Rebounding proved to be a huge factor in the game, but mainly in the second half. The Lady Colonels got almost 15 more rebounds than the Lady Govs, which lead to 20 second chance points.

The Lady Govs kept fighting back, but it seemed that their efforts were irrelevant because Eastern Kentucky kept pulling away. In the end, the Lady Colonels proved to be too much for the Lady Govs and they send the Lady Govs home on a two-game losing streak with a final score of 55-69.
