CINCINNATI, Ohio. – Austin Peay State University’s men’s golf team competed in a field of 11 teams and 13 unattached individuals this Monday and Tuesday at the Maketewah Country Club in the Buckeye State.

The last two times the Governors were in Cincinati, they took home fifth (2022) and second (2021) place on the team leaderboard.

This year, APSU came in ninth place with a score of 890. They were also ranked third in par-fives for the two-day tournament with a team comprised of junior Reece Britt, freshman Seth Smith, fifth year Jakob Falk Schollert, redshirt junior Logan Spurrier and junior Daniel Love.

Falk Schollert led the Governors in scoring with rounds consisting of a two-over 72, a five-over 75 and a final four-over 74 for a score of 221 and a 29th place finish.

Spurrier came in second for the Govs and tied 30th overall, matching Falk Schollert’s final round and earning a score of 222.

After leading the Governors at the APSU Intercollegiate, Britt finished in third for the team and was tied at 36th on the leaderboard. Britt moved up three positions in the final round with the best round of the day by a Governor for Tuesday, shooting a two-over 72.

Next for Austin Peay was Love, who matched Britt’s final round and shot up seven places in that round to finish tied for 57th with an aggregate score of 232.

The Govs lineup was rounded out by Smith, who tied for 62nd with a score of 235.

In the final results, APSU was led by Western Kentucky University (840), Xavier University (856), Oakland University (869), Eastern Kentucky University (880), St. John’s University (883), Northern Kentucky University (884), Butler University (886) and Morehead State University (887). APSU came ahead of Tennessee Tech University (894) and High Point University (898). Eastern Kentucky and APSU are both a part of the of the ASUN Conference.

With the conclusion of the Xavier Invitational, the men’s golf team’s fall season also concludes. The Governors will play next in the spring against Murray in the Battle of the Border at the Hopkinsville Country Club in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on February 10.

Their first spring tournament will be Eastern Kentucky’s World Golf Village Collegiate at the King & Bear course at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida, held from February 19-20.
