Tristan Denley, TBR vice chancellor for Academic Affairs and former APSU vice president, will take over as interim president of the university on May 10.

Prior to serving as chair of the mathematics department at the University of Mississippi, Denley studied at University of Cambridge and earned his Ph.D. from Trinity College Cambridge.

In a letter sent to faculty and staff John Morgan, chancellor of TBR and APSU alum, said, “We are fortunate to have Dr. Denley available and willing to take on this dual role.” As APSU vice president, Denley “led efforts to increase the numbers of degrees awarded and grants funded,” His successes at APSU have been recognized by organizations like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Educause.

The search for President Timothy Hall’s permanent successor continues.

“I am now in the process of evaluating each candidate in preparation to make a recommendation to the Board for the new president.” His hope, he said, is to announce the new president of APSU in the upcoming weeks.
