It’s crazy to think that just a month ago, I was just counting down the days to my arrival on campus. Now that I’m here, I can’t even begin to say how many times I’ve questioned skipping classes to lay in bed a little longer. Then there’s the million dollar question, “how much effort do I really need to putting into looking decent today?”

I don’t think I’ve ever been somewhere where everyone is so genuine. Walking around campus its rare to not get a hello and a smile. APSU students, staff and faculty are out of this world and I truly mean that. It’s so different because in high school, everyone was divided into cliques. They didn’t really talk to people outside their friend groups, and here anyone can hang out with anyone, without judgment; it’s truly beautiful. The people who know me, know that I love to talk and laugh. I can definitely say that I have laugh harder now, than ever before I stepped foot on this campus. I have met the most wonderful people, and I continue to meet new people every single day, it’s so mind-blowing to think that I’ve only been here for four weeks.

As much as I miss home and my family, I can definitely say that coming to APSU is the greatest decision I have made. I just know that something great is going to come out of being here, and I’m reminded of it every time I wake up in the morning.

I strive to follow my mom’s advice to be great; every morning before I leave for classes, I repeat her words in the mirror.

So from me to you: Be great because something good is going to come from it.
