JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the drowning of a 7-year-old boy in a bathtub in an apartment in Jackson.

The Jackson Police Department says the boy, identified as Aiden Edwards, died Thursday at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis.

Police said the boy’s older brother found him unresponsive in the bathtub Monday night.

When police arrived, the boy’s mother was performing CPR on him. He was transported to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, and then airlifted to Le Bonheur.

An autopsy will be performed by a medical examiner in Memphis.

Jackson police and the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services are investigating the death.
