CLARKSVILLE, TN. Austin Peay hosted its annual Peaycake Breakfast Sunday, August 27 at 11 p.m.

Members of APSU senior leadership, academic deans, and university President Micheal Licari served pancakes and breakfast food to incoming freshmen and returning students.

Donning an APSU branded Hawaiian shirt and pouring pancake batter behind the counter at the Caf, Licari said he enjoyed the experience of his third Peaycake breakfast, taking pictures with students and accepting buttons and other knick-knacks.

“I just want to make sure that they have a great weekend before classes start on Monday,” Licari said.

Jandro Herrera, Director of Recruitment and Orientation, inherited the Peaycake breakfast from the previous director, and added a trivia element as his own twist.

This is the ninth annual Peaycake breakfast, with the trivia element being added in 2018. Prizes included bluetooth speakers, instant cameras, and keyboards.

Herrera says that the event is popular with students. “Every single year we’ve hit capacity, that we’ve been inside of the cafeteria,” Herrera said. Herrera has considered expanding to other areas as the APSU student body grows, but says that the event will remain in the Caf for now.
