Three Austin Peay State University athletes were awarded ASUN Conference awards: volleyball players Mikayla Powell and Kelsey Mead, and men’s golfer Reece Britt.

Graduate student Mikayla Powell was selected as Tennessee Sports Writers Association’s Volleyball Player of the Week for her performance in recent matches. In addition to this honor, Powell earned ASUN Conference’s Player of the Week as well, her second nomination so far.

These recognitions are a result of her valuable efforts in the Lindenwood invitational this past week, achieving 72 kills overall and assisting the Govs to a 3-0 win against ULM. Powell leads the Atlantic Sun in total kills and is second in the conference for total kills per set.

Kelsey Mead, primary setter for the team this year, excelled last weekend at Lindenwood with eight blocks and a team-best 50 digs. Her performance against ULM resulted in a 49-assist, 29-dig double-double. This is Mead’s first ASUN Conference award.

APSU men’s golfer Reece Britt has also earned an ASUN Conference award this past week after shooting a three-under 207 and tying the Govs for third in the season opener. The Maryville, TN native is the very first APSU men’s golfer to be named Atlantic Sun Conference Golfer of the Week.
