The Lady Govs had six players in double digit scoring as they defeat archrival Murray State 86-71 at Dunn Center Thursday, January 30. Nicole Olszewski continued her tremendous Ohio Valley Conference play to lead the Lady Govs in scoring with 20 points against the Racers. The Lady Govs also got the needed lift off the bench with freshman Tearra Banks and sophomore Tiasha Gray chipping in 13 points each.

The Lady Govs had it working on both sides of the basketball as they shot 51% from the field while holding the Racers to a subpar 27% shooting for the game. Murray State came into the contest as a team that really relied on the three point shot and they continued that trend by attempting 29 three point shots on the night but only connecting on six the entire game.

The Lady Govs scored 38 of their 86 points in the paint as Austin Peay exploited a miss match in the post. Jennifer Nwokocha racked up another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebound as fellow teammate Beth Rates had 10 points on five of seven shooting from the field.

Austin Peay improves to 5-4 in OVC play and currently sits seventh in the standings before the Thursday night game. The Lady Govs prepare to hit the road, 3-0 in their last six games on the road, as they will travel to Southeast Missouri February 3rd contest at 11:00 AM.
