The Lady Govs coming  to the game against the SIU-Edwardsville Lady Cougars on Saturday, Feb. 16, needed a victory to snap a three-game losing streak and get another Ohio Valley Conference victory.

The Lady Govs got to a hot start and forced the Lady Cougars into early turnovers. The Lady Cougars had 15 turnovers in the first half and the majority of those were turned into points for the Lady Govs.  The Lady Govs pressure defense and aggressive offense did not let up for the entire first half. The Lady Govs took a comfortable 36-22 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Lady Govs continued to attack and overpower the Lady Cougars in every aspect of the game. The Lady Govs kept with the pressure and keeping SIU-E off balance. As the game went on , the Lady Cougars began to heat up and put pressure on the Lady Govs.

In the early minutes of the second half the Lady Govs went through a shooting drought and that helped the Lady Cougars get back into the game along with getting second chance points and getting to the free throw line.

The Lady Govs turnovers allowed the Lady Cougars to pull the lead down to single digits late in the game. The full court pressure from the Lady Cougars made the Lady Govs fall out of rhythm and make then force shots to get back in sync.

Just as it looked like the Lady Cougars would be making a full comeback in the game, the Lady Govs surged at the right time to close the door on the Lady Cougar comeback and get their second OVC victory and snap a three-game losing streak with score of 67-53 in the first game of  the road trip.
