There are many different things that supplement an artists’ music, like the cover art, music videos and even a screenplay in Childish Gambino’s case. But music videos in particular are important, because they’re the most visually striking elements at a commercial musician’s disposal. I’ve highlighted five of the most ridiculous and silly music videos out there.

James Blunt – “You’re Beautiful”

WHO HURT YOU JAMES? WHO?

Normally, nudity in art is used as a symbol for vulnerability and openness, but in James Blunt’s case, he’s taking off his clothes so they don’t get dirty when he jumps in the water. With camera shots that never leave Blunt’s face until he ultimately jumps in the water at the end of the video, you never miss any of the heart-pounding action.

Pedico – “Party Tennis”

I have literally no idea what’s going on in this video, but I love it. There’s a guy who doesn’t understand how TVs work, a shocking amount of Natty Light, tennis rackets being used as guitars and a guy whose name is apparently Springbreakeris Maximus — which sounds more like a cheap GWAR ripoff than anything. I love this video more than I can really explain, because it embodies everything I aspire to be: devoid of a $&@% to give and my personal tennis court in which to drink wheelbarrows full of beer.

Bloodhound Gang – “The Bad Touch”

Hopefully, not much needs to be said for this video. It’s a classic example of what taking too much/just enough PCP does to the creative process.

Foetal Juice – “Albert Grindstein”

This video is kind of like the equivalent of the character in some movies who’s really fat, but whom the writers decide to ironically name “Tiny.” Foetal Juice, a death metal outfit from the U.K., enlisted the help of a group of older women for this video, and I can say in 100 percent confidence that I’ve never been more scared of someone who looks like she could be my grandmother.

Eminem – “The Real Slim Shady”

Eminem has been setting the precedent for what you can get away with in popular music for almost 30 years. “The Real Slim Shady” is a perfect example, with Eminem taking shots at everyone from feminists to Will Smith. This video goes to show anything is possible with a fish-eye lens, a platinum blonde haircut and a can-do attitude.

Have a fantastic Tuesday.
