APSU Baseball (9-6, 3-0 Ohio Valley Conference) will soon travel across the east side of the Tennessee River to play against SEC Powerhouse, The University of Tennessee. The Govs are coming off a major series victory with a 3-0 sweep over Jacksonville State, a team that was picked to finish above APSU in the OVC Preseason Poll. UT (11-2) enters the series riding a two-game win streak, and are 9-1 in their last 10.

APSU and UT have met 23 times with a 19-4 advantage in favor of the Volunteers. Tennessee won the last meeting in 2015 3-0, while APSU last beat the Volunteers in 2012, 8-4 in Knoxville. The Govs offense continues to produce as they lead all Division 1 programs in home runs averaged per game (1.93). The Govs are third in the nation with 29 home runs.

Brett Newberg (0-0) is the projected starter for the Govs. The first pitch is scheduled 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
