The Lady Govs soccer team had an opportunity to bounce back from their first OVC loss on Sunday, Oct. 16 away to Eastern Illinois, but lost 1-0 to the Panthers.

APSU (8-6-2, 3-2-2 OVC) produced 10 corner kicks on the day and channeled 13 shots, turning four shots on target. Leading the way was Robertson with four shots followed by Pamela Penaloza and Isabel Holmes with 2 shots each, and Natalie Smith with one.

Eastern Illinois (5-10; 2-5 OVC) found the goal in the 31st minute. Malorie Henderlong sent a ball towards Emma Scaro who put the Panthers on the forefront of the score sheet. EIU finished the game with five shots despite being out possessed by the Lady Govs controlling midfield.

Junior keeper Lindsey Todd recorded two saves in her second loss as a starter while EIU’s Sara Teteak had four goals.

APSU takes a four game losing streak into the final stretch of the season with three home OVC games. The Lady Govs continue on Friday, Oct. 21 against Belmont at 7 p.m. on Morgan Brothers Soccer Field.
