Good article. I agree with most of your sentiments save for one: it is nearly 4:30 pm on a Friday and the Trahern lot is well above 50% capacity. Yes, there are usually some spots open in the lot, but for the most part the staff/faculty population is well represented (I park there nearly everyday).

You are correct in stating that staff/faculty lost a lot of parking, and the Trahern lot compensates for this. We pay $60 per semester to simply park at our place of employment.

Even before the Trahern change when the other lots still existed, consistently I and others who pay for their red tags would be left without a single spot on campus save for the Dunn Center or even farther out. Meanwhile, many a 'green tagged' car took up what little spots we had, even when the Trahern parking was still 'green'.

As a staff member who had to walk by 'green cars' parked in red spots on my way from the Dunn Center to Clement, I'd say you're looking for sympathy from a place you won't get it.
